Kentucky basketball coach Mark Pope is on a mission to prove that he can recruit, and land, elite recruits this offseason. Last year's chase of Tyran Stokes likely cost him other recruits, and they learned a lesson. This year, they already have a commitment from four-star forward Ryan Hampton, and they are working on many others in the 2027 class, including center Cherif Millogo .

Millogo is a rising star in the class who Kentucky offered back in May, and have prioritized. It may be paying off. On Friday, the coveted center made a trip to Lexington for a surprise official visit, as reported by Jack Pilgrim of Kentucky Sports Radio.

Standing at 7'5", 240 lbs, Millogo has impressive and unteachable size. He is currently rated four stars by 247Sports and ranks as their No. 44 overall player. Some services have him ranked even higher, and he's moving up.

Kentucky has some tough competition for Millogo's services. Arkansas, Kansas, Louisville, and multiple SEC teams are also in contention. Getting him in for a visit is certainly a win for the Wildcats, but having him choose to make a surprise visit is a good sign.
