Victor Wembanyama's relationship with New York has been anything but loving lately. His newest Nike sneakers, however, are showing the city some love.
The San Antonio Spurs superstar's new "NY vs. NY" Nike G.T. Cut 4 PE is expected to go on sale in November, according to ESPN.
The New York-themed shoes come just months after Wembanyama and the Spurs fell short against the Knicks in the NBA Finals, with New York winning the championship in five games.
The sneakers also arrive as anticipation builds around Wembanyama's eventual signature Nike line.
Wembanyama signed a long-term contract extension with Nike in July after his previous deal was set to expire in October, ESPN's Michael C. Wright reported. The new agreement includes plans for the 7-foot-4 big man's first signature shoe.
Details about the design and release of Wembanyama's signature shoe have not been revealed.
In the meantime, the "NY vs. NY" G.T. Cut 4 PE will give fans another Wembanyama-themed release shortly after the start of the 2026-27 NBA season - and perhaps an unexpected reminder of a city Spurs fans would rather forget.
Wembanyama and the Spurs enter the season seeking a return to the NBA Finals after losing to the Knicks in five games last season.
