Richard Sherman to raise the 12th Man Flag against the Patriots

The Seattle Seahawks enjoy the best pregame tradition in all of football. Before every game, the iconic 12th Man Flag is raised in the south end zone by a former Seahawk legend, Seattle sports icon or local celebrity. Now, we know who will be raising the flag on Wednesday night against the New England Patriots , and it is a familiar face:

The face of the Legion of Boom defense, who helped usher in the golden age and won the franchise their first Super Bowl, is on deck to help the team celebrate their second.

Sherman was a Seahawk from 2011-2017 and helped put the Seahawks on the map by giving them a loud, brash brand unseen in the Pacific Northwest before. During his time in Seattle, Sherman was unequestionably the best cornerback in the league. In back to back years, he was the least targeted corner in the NFL and still led the league in interceptions.

Initially, it seemed as if Jody Allen was going to be the flag raiser, as was suggested by the new owner Vinod Khosla. However, Richard Sherman is quite fitting for Wednesday night!
