Grading Patriots QB Drake Maye's dominant performance against Raiders
Patriots quarterback Drake Maye played one of the best games of his career in Week 5 against the Raiders.
New England Patriots quarterback Drake Maye played sensationally in the team's 45-17 win over the Las Vegas Raiders in Week 5.
Maye deserves an "A+" for his performance in the win over the Raiders. He put together one of the best games of his young career and helped New England improve to 3-2 on the season after falling into a 1-2 hole to begin the year.
The 24-year-old Maye completed 26-of-34 passes for 374 yards and four touchdowns, adding seven carries for 25 yards and a rushing touchdown. His 76.5 percent completion rate and 150.9 passer rating were both season highs, and he posted a quarterback rating of 96. Maye spread the ball effectively, with DeMario Douglas catching two touchdown passes and Hunter Henry and Kyle Williams each adding one.
Most importantly, Maye did not throw an interception for the first time this season. He entered the game with seven interceptions through four weeks, including three in the season opener against the Seattle Seahawks and two in Week 3 against the Jacksonville Jaguars. His clean performance against Las Vegas marked a major step forward in terms of him taking care of the ball, and it gave the Patriots ' offense the boost it needed to produce a huge scoring output in the game.
Maye's five total touchdowns and 399 yards of offense powered a season-high of 536 total yards for New England, which has now won consecutive games heading into Week 6.
