Titans LB Cedric Gray Injured in UTV Accident

It was a relatively normal day for the Tennessee Titans on Labor Day as players spoke to the media in the locker room.

We got to hear from the likes of J.C. Latham, Elic Ayomanor, Wan'Dale Robinson, Hendon Hooker and Austin Schlottmann .

Then, there was some breaking injury news for the Titans.

ESPN's Turron Davenport shared that Titans linebacker Cedric Gray had been in a UTV accident over the weekend and was going to be in concussion protocol. Davenport clarified that the accident had nothing to do with reckless driving and that there was no alcohol involved.

The Titans also released a statement on the accident.

"Over the weekend, Cedric Gray was involved in a UTV accident in Tennessee and sustained a concussion and minor injuries," the statement read. "We look forward to Cedric returning to the field soon and in full health when he clears the NFL's concussion protocol."

Hopefully, the concussion isn't very severe, because Gray was a major contributor to this team last year.

He was drafted out of North Carolina in 2024. He was used as a rotational player as a rookie, appearing in seven games and recording 22 total tackles.

Gray then had a massive breakout season, recording 164 total tackles, seven tackles for loss, one sack, and two fumble recoveries.

Gray finished with the fourth-most total tackles in the NFL last season. Only Devin White (174), Jack Campbell (176) and Jordyn Brooks (183) had more total tackles than Gray did in 2025.

He is expected to reprise his role as one of the Titans' starting linebackers this year, even with Robert Saleh moving the team to a 4-3 defense.

The injury news couldn't have come at a worse time for the Titans, as they prepare to take on the New York Jets on Sunday.

It will be the first time that Saleh has faced the Jets as head coach of another team since he was fired by them in 2024.

This could make things interesting for the linebacker room.

The Titans recently placed Mohamoud Diabate on the practice squad and may need to bring him back to the active roster depending on the severity of Gray's concussion.

We'll have to wait and see for more updates on Gray's status ahead of Sunday's game. The Titans may have a roster decision to make if Gray is out for a significant amount of time.

Either way, the Titans face the Jets on Sunday at noon CT on CBS.
