NEW DELHI: The six-km Keshopur-Pushpanjali section — part of the 29-km Janakpuri West and RK Ashram Marg corridor and comprising six elevated stations — on Magenta Line is nearing completion. Its trial run is set to begin next month after which it is expected to open to public by 2026-end.Peeragarhi, an interchange station, will link this section to the existing Green Line. Other stations on this stretch include Keshopur, Paschim Vihar, Mangolpuri, West Enclave and Pushpanjali. With its opening, the Magenta Line extension will connect four major stretches: Green Line at Peeragarhi, Red Line at Pitampura, Yellow Line at Haiderpur Badli Mor and Pink Line at Majlis Park. “The Keshopur-Pushpanjali section is a key step in Delhi Metro Rail Corporation‘s (DMRC) Phase-IV expansion to improve accessibility and provide a direct, seamless link from northwest Delhi to south Delhi, Noida and IGI Airport Terminal 1,” said an official.“Civil work on the entire stretch has been fully completed and finishing touches are being given,” the official said. The station buildings have been designed with passenger convenience in mind. All stations, except Peeragarhi, have three levels: ground floor, first floor for concourse and second for platforms. “Peeragarhi has a different design as it is an interchange station. Its ground floor is for concourse, first has both concourse and platform facilities, and second accommodates a 160-metre-long foot overbridge connecting it to the Green Line station,” said the official, adding that a crossover has been provided on this stretch for train operations. These six stations will have modern amenities like passenger information display, public address systems, automatic fare collection gates, lifts, escalators and platform screen doors. “The corridor will be equipped with communication-based train control signalling and an unattended train operation system for greater safety, reliability and efficiency,” said the official.Entry and exit points have been planned according to the requirements of each station. Mangolpuri will have three entry and exit points, the most on this stretch, while West Enclave will have two, including an emergency exit. The Janakpuri West-RK Ashram Marg corridor comprises 22 stations. Two of its sections have already been commissioned: Janakpuri West to Krishna Park Extension (1.8 km) on Jan 5 this year and Deepali Chowk to Majlis Park (9.9 km) on March 8. With the opening of the latest six-km section, Magenta Line will become 55 km long and have 39 stations.Once the entire Janakpuri West-RK Ashram section becomes operational and after the addition of Central Vista corridor (RK Ashram to Indraprastha) and Indraprastha to Inderlok corridor, the total length of Magenta Line will further increase to 88.4 km, making it the longest in DMRC network. It will run all the way from Botanical Garden to Inderlok as a fully driverless corridor. You Can Also Check: Gold Rate in Delhi | Silver Rate in Delhi | Bank Holidays in Delhi | Public Holidays in Delhi | Delhi AQI | Weather in Delhi | Petrol Price in Delhi | Diesel Price in Delhi | CNG Price in Delhi | LPG Price in DelhiStay updated with the latest Delhi news.
