Scottie Scheffler is the best golfer on the planet by quite some distance, and he has been for 179 consecutive weeks.
Scheffler has won 22 PGA Tour titles since February 2022, including four major championships.
The 30-year-old's remarkable consistency and exceptionally impressive win-rate has seen comparisons made with the likes of Tiger Woods and Jack Nicklaus.
There could easily come a time when the American decides that enough is enough, though. Scottie Scheffler is unquestionably a generational talent, but it's fair to say that he isn't as fond of the spotlight as many other huge stars in the game are.
However, that is all by design. The world number one wants his life to be as quiet and as normal as possible away from tournament weeks.
As a result, he limits the amount of professional partnerships he has. Scheffler views his relationship with his wife and children as his sole priority.
Golf is a distant second to the 30-year-old, and now he has opened up on how much his family mean to him.
Scottie Scheffler pinpoints one thing that would make him retire from golf
Scheffler sat down to speak exclusively with The Athletic about a wide range of topics pertaining to his time in the professional game.
And as much as the man from Dallas, Texas, has a burning desire to win, golf is not the be-all and end-all for him.
Scheffler shared how he would happily walk away from the game in an instant if it began to adversely impact his home life.
"If my golf ever started affecting my home life or it ever affected the relationship I have with my wife or my son, that's going to be the last day that I play out here for a living," the world number one claimed.
Despite the fact that Scottie Scheffler is the best golfer in the world by quite some margin, he turns down numerous opportunities to increase his stardom and wealth in order to spend more time with his family.
Scheffler is completely unlike so many modern-day sport stars in that his performances on the golf course do not define him as a person.
Being the best husband and father he can be is the most important thing to him.
And as he says, if that ever changes he will walk away from the game without a second thought.
