Warriors star Draymond Green ejected after throwing Khaman Maluach down, getting into scuffle with Dillon Brooks
Draymond Green was not happy after being knocked to the court on Monday night in San Francisco.
Draymond Green picked up his first ejection of the season on Monday night after he got into it with Dillon Brooks at the Chase Center.
The incident started after Green and Phoenix center Khaman Maluach got tangled up in the lane during the Warriors' 116-113 win over the Suns on Monday. That sparked the entire altercation in the third quarter. Maluach appeared to shake Green off and knock him to the ground early in the period, which left him wide open for a pass in the lane.
Green, clearly upset, jumped up immediately and grabbed Maluach as he was going up for the layup. Green kept going and threw Maluach down to the court.
Though things stopped for a moment after that, Brooks came running in to confront Green. The two got into it briefly under the basket before they were eventually separated.
Green was hit with two technical fouls and ejected, the first for throwing Maluach down and the second for his altercation with Brooks, who also received a technical foul for his role in the incident. It marked the first ejection of the season for Green, and the 23rd of his regular-season career.
Green finished the night with four points and four rebounds. The 36-year-old is in his 15th season in the league this fall.
Despite losing Green early, the Warriors surged back in the third quarter thanks to a 18-point period from Stephen Curry to get back into the contest. They then held on down the stretch to secure the three-point win.
Devin Booker led the Suns with 26 points in the loss, which dropped them to 1-4 on the year. Miles Bridges added 21 points, and Brooks finished with 18 points and eight rebounds.
Curry finished with 34 points, 7 assists and 6 rebounds for the Warriors. Brandin Podziemski added 20 points, and Charles Bassey finished with a career-high 19 points off the bench after he shot 7-of-10 from the field. The Warriors are now 5-3 this season.
While they ended up with the win, Green's latest ejection could cost him a suspension in the coming days.
