Jaren Jackson Jr. injured against former Grizzlies team, out six weeks
Utah Jazz big man Jaren Jackson Jr. was injured against his former Memphis Grizzlies team and will miss at least six weeks.
Utah Jazz big man Jaren Jackson Jr. will be re-evaluated in six weeks after suffering a torn MCL in his right knee against the Memphis Grizzlies, the team announced on Oct. 27.
Jackson was injured early in the second quarter on Oct. 26 after Grizzlies guard Ty Jerome drove to the basket, was fouled and fell into Jackson's right knee. Jackson attempted to play through the injury for a couple of possessions before asking to be removed from the game.
Jackson's injury came against the team that drafted him No. 4 overall in the 2018 NBA Draft. He s pent nearly eight seasons with the Grizzlies before being traded to the Jazz on Feb. 3 of last season.
In his time in Memphis, Jackson was a two-time All-Star and the 2022-23 NBA Defensive Player of the Year.
Jackson's injury came in the second meeting this season between the Grizzlies and Jazz. Memphis has won both matchups.

Injuries are creating depth issues in Utah's frontcourt. The team is already without projected starting center Jusuf Nurkic due to a right foot injury.
When Memphis traded Jackson , it acquired three future first-round picks. One of the assets is the most favorable first-round pick between the Utah Jazz, Cleveland Cavaliers and Minnesota Timberwolves in 2027. Utah currently has the worst record of those teams, meaning Memphis would get its pick.
The Grizzlies are off to a 4-0 start for the second time in franchise history and first time since 2014. They'll head to the Moda Center for a matchup against the Portland Trail Blazers on Oct. 29 (9 p.m., CT, DAZN-MEM).
