Damian Lillard said he's enjoying his backcourt partnership with Ja Morant thus far after an offseason trade with the Memphis Grizzlies brought the latter to the Portland Trail Blazers, especially given both players' backgrounds as point guards.
"It's been fun to get to know him," he said during an ESPN segment . "You direct traffic as a point guard. So far the duo is working well together. The Blazers are 2-0 on the season with Lillard averaging 22 points and four assists per game and Morant chipping in with 13 points and 7.5 assists per contest. In the 29 minutes the two have shared the court this season, the Blazers have a plus-29.9 net rating, per NBA.com .
It's a small sample size, obviously, but it's a promising start given the question marks coming into the season about how the duo would play together.
