Warriors’ Yaxel Lendeborg seeks advice from Carmelo Anthony, Tracy McGrady, Vince Carter after monster game

It is still too early to label Yaxel Lendeborg as Stephen Curry's perfect successor, but the Golden State Warriors rookie's monster performance against the Denver Nuggets was enough to put him in that conversation. However, the young forward is not allowing his impressive night to distract him from the work that lies ahead, as he continues to seek guidance from some of basketball's greatest legends.

Following his breakout performance, Lendeborg had the opportunity to ask NBA Hall of Famers Carmelo Anthony , Tracy McGrady , and Vince Carter for advice on improving his game during an appearance on NBA Showtime.

"Do you guys have any advice, just for me in general, to keep going? Things I've got to work on, anything you guys see that I don't see?" Lendeborg asked the three NBA legends.

All three NBA greats readily shared their advice with Lendeborg, while the young forward was seen attentively listening to their insights.

Lendeborg's request for advice came on the heels of an outstanding performance that helped Golden State secure its first win of the 2026-27 NBA season. The Warriors appear to have made a smart decision by drafting Lendeborg.

The rookie finished the victory over the Nuggets, recording a career-high 31 points, 12 rebounds, and six assists in the Warriors' 134-114 victory on Monday. He shot 9-of-19 from the field while converting 12 of his 13 free-throw attempts.

Lendeborg is now the first Warriors rookie to record at least 30 points, 10 rebounds, and five assists in a game since Curry accomplished the feat in 2010. He is also the second rookie in NBA history to record at least 30 points, 12 rebounds, and six assists in fewer than 31 minutes behind Victor Wembanyama.

If Lendeborg can combine the lessons from Anthony, McGrady, and Carter with his early on-court production, the Warriors rookie could become an important part of Golden State's plans this season.
