New Jaylen Brown Rumors Update Buzz on Jayson Tatum Relationship Before Celtics-76ers Trade
Jaylen Brown and Jayson Tatum may not have any beef after the former was traded to the Philadelphia 76ers on Sunday, but the Boston Celtics may have helped cook up the "lamb chops and some gravy" between the two men that Brown referenced when asked about his relationship with Tatum.
"I had heard the Sixers thing was sitting on the table for a while as a possibility. It seemed unlikely, but it was sitting there. And I think kind of hiding in the weeds a little bit through all this is the Celtics. Because I feel like they're the ones, the main ones that created this," ESPN's Marc Spears said during Monday's NBA Today. "They favored Jayson. Jayson didn't ask them to favor him. Jayson didn't stop it, but they favored Jayson. And I know Jaylen felt some type of way about that. And Jaylen also was in the community, won a lot of people over, was very vocal. I'm not gonna say he was a saint and everything as well. But at some point these guys hopefully will talk. I just think it's too hot right now. The trade isn't too far away, but the Celtics definitely deserve some of this blame."
The relationship between Brown and Tatum has been a popular topic of conversation following this summer's surprising trade between the Sixers and Celtics, and Tatum reinvigorated it recently when he said in a video that he was "just as much caught off guard as the rest of the world" by the deal.
Brown wasn't buying it, hitting Tatum with the cap emoji under the video.
Brown was then asked by reporters if there was beef between Tatum and himself.
"We both got so much stuff in front of us," he told reporters. "So at the end of the day... he gotta do what he's got to do for his team. I gotta do what I do for my team. Jayson's a great guy. Like I said, great family, hell of a basketball player, hell of a PR team. There's no beef, but it'll be a little lamb chop."
He added that Tatum "should stay ready at all times."
"There's no beef. It's not about that. It should be more praise," he told reporters Friday. "I understand drama gets clicks and views, but I'm not really into that. I'm not blaming everybody for how they feel. Everybody is entitled to their own feelings, and we all go through different things in our lives."
In case you were wondering, the Sixers and Celtics play for the first time this season on Nov. 10. Consider it appointment viewing for NBA fans.
