Boxing broadcaster Emily Austin had been keeping a secret from Steve Nash for years. On Tuesday, October 13, she finally told him to his face, and the camera was rolling when she did.

Austin, 25, crossed paths with the former Brooklyn Nets coach at an NBA on Prime event in New York City. Video she later posted to X shows the two of them together as she comes clean about a social media account she ran in college.

Austin worked as an intern with the Nets while Nash was the team's head coach. During that same stretch, she was also running a satirical Twitter account called "Steve Nash's Burner." The page posted jokes and commentary about the Nets and the man leading them.

The account built a loyal following among Nets fans, and plenty of them eventually figured out that Austin was behind it. Nash never found out. Austin's 'burner" run ended when the platform suspended the account, which she now looks back on as a rough moment from her college years.

Austin described the exchange to Sporting News. She says she started by reminding Nash that she had once interned for the team, since a lot of time had passed.

She then asked him, "Do you remember Steve Nash's Burner account on Twitter? You definitely engaged with it once or twice."

Austin said she told him, "That was me."

According to Austin, Nash broke out laughing and said, "No way, wow OK."

Austin got her start in sports media by interviewing athletes on Instagram Live while she was a student at Hofstra University. She now works as a broadcaster with DAZN and Most Valuable Promotions. Her job takes her to championship boxing, international tennis and basketball, where she interviews some of the biggest names in sports.

Nash is a two time NBA MVP and a Hall of Famer who now works as an analyst for NBA on Prime. He coached the Nets from 2020 to 2022.

He spent those seasons with no idea that one of his own interns was running the account. He knows now.
