Phoenix Mercury coach hints at DeWanna Bonner’s next move after WNBA buyout

Everybody is wondering about where is next for DeWanna Bonner after her Phoenix Mercury buyout.

The Phoenix Mercury agreed to a contract buyout on the remainder of DeWanna Bonner's $500,000 salary, granting the 39-year-old veteran a chance to join a new team.

Currently in her 17th WNBA season, the two-time champion is nearing the end of her legendary career and facing likely retirement after this upcoming postseason run.

Before the buyout, Bonner posted solid contributions for Phoenix, averaging 10.6 points, 6.1 rebounds, and 1.5 assists across 27 minutes per game, so she'll be a handy pickup for any challenging team.

We already saw Bonner address her potential retirement plans , stating that she still feels like she has plenty in her and the drive to continue.

And it seems as if her main aim is to join a team chasing the championship, as Nate Tibbetts spoke out after DeWanna Bonner and the Mercury agreed to a contract buyout in the WNBA .

He said: "This was done out of respect for DB. This is an opportunity for her to chase a title in possibly her last season. Everything happened on great terms, and she's always gonna be part of the Mercury organization… It was different this morning telling my staff that this was going to happen. It was probably different for our team finding out this morning, but this is part of professional sports: it's change, and we've been through a lot."
