Learn & Play. Learn & Play, made an update about how the charity has tried to close the literacy gap in Oakland.The heartfelt post reads as, “When a child learns to read, everything changes. Curiosity takes off, and a whole world opens up. That’s why, in 2024, Eat. Learn. Play. pledged $25 million over five years to close Oakland’s literacy gap, working toward 10,000 tutoring opportunities by 2029. To date, our 1:1 and small group tutoring has reached over 7,500 students in the Oakland Unified School District.”The post added, “Personalized support layered on top of classroom instruction with students building confidence one page at a time. We’ve also placed more than 1 million books into Oakland kids’ hands with the @Oaklitcoalition and through programs like our free holiday book boxes and book fairs, and the Eat. Learn. Play. And so, of course, when their parents, you know, are not reading to them and nurturing them in that way as much as they want to, they don't have that option.”The popular entrepreneur added, “And then you just have kids just, you know, learning at a different pace.
