Yahoo Sports launches new fantasy basketball game for NBA on Prime Broadcasts
Designed to complement season-long Yahoo Fantasy formats, Perfect 5 gives fans a fun, easy way to engage around each week's exclusive NBA on Prime coverage.
Yahoo Sports is giving fans yet another way to play fantasy basketball this season with the launch of Perfect 5 , a free-to-play game connected to each week's marquee NBA on Prime matchups. Designed to complement season-long fantasy basketball, the new format features weekly roster building and scoring. Specifically:
Fans pick five players from the games featured in each week's NBA on Prime doubleheader.
Each player has a salary between $1 to $5. Fans have a $15 budget to build their five-player roster.
Players earn fantasy points in categories like points, rebounds, assists, steals, blocks, and 3-pointers made.
The objective: build a roster that outscores the competition.
In Perfect 5 , fans compete against the broader Yahoo Fantasy community. Those who finish in the top five each week earn points to use in the new Yahoo Sports Shop . In addition, fans can organize private groups to compete directly with friends, or play against likeminded fans in public groups organized by NBA team allegiances. Perfect 5 also features season-long standings to reward fans who build the best rosters week in and week out.
"Perfect 5 adds a new layer of excitement to this season's must-see NBA on Prime broadcasts," Yahoo Sports General Manager Jarrod Schwarz said. "It's a fun format designed to run alongside our season-long games, giving fans more ways to play fantasy basketball on Yahoo and even more reason to watch the NBA on Prime."
The first NBA on Prime doubleheader of the season tips off Friday, Oct. 23, with the defending NBA champion New York Knicks visiting the Boston Celtics, followed by the Houston Rockets taking on the San Antonio Spurs. Fans can start building their Perfect 5 rosters for those matchups now .
