Jaylen Brown's No. 7 'Likely' to Be Retired by Celtics in Future, Brad Stevens Says

Boston Celtics president of basketball operations Brad Stevens expressed his belief this week that Jaylen Brown's No. 7 jersey will one day be retired by the organization.

According to Avery Hill of the Boston Globe , Stevens brought up the topic during a discussion about the difficulties of being a front-office decision-maker in the NBA.

"I get a lot of emails and a lot of people that ask about wanting to be a GM," Stevens said. "I'm like, 'I wish you would've been around last summer when we basically had to trade Jrue Holiday.' That's like brutal. Or we go through this long arduous process and ultimately decide to trade Jaylen, whose numbers will likely go up in the rafters in Boston. Not fun."

Both Brown and Holiday were crucial parts of the Celtics' championship team in 2024 with Brown being named NBA Finals MVP.

Despite that accolade, along with his five All-Star selections in 10 seasons with the Celtics, Brown was traded to the Philadelphia 76ers this offseason for Paul George and draft picks, ending his hugely successful run in Boston.
