The Indiana Pacers put up a valiant effort in Monday's 108-104 defeat to the Atlanta Hawks.

After all, they had just six players available.

ESPN's Bobby Marks and Matt Williams illustrated just how dire things were for the Pacers with a stat that dated back to 1948:

Tim Reynolds of the Associated Press noted 11 players, who represented approximately 93 percent of the team's payroll, were sidelined. Indiana was expected to have seven players available, but Kelly Oubre Jr. (knee) was a late scratch.

He joined Tyrese Haliburton (hamstring), Pascal Siakam (rest), Johnny Furphy (knee), T.J. McConnell (hamstring), Larry Nance Jr. (illness), Andrew Nembhard (cervical), Aaron Nesmith (hamstring), Ben Sheppard (knee), Obi Toppin (lumbar sprain) and Ivica Zubac (ankle) on the sidelines.

Fortunately for the Pacers, they didn't have two players foul out since it would have led to quite the confusing situation:

All six players who did play—Jalen Slawson, Jarace Walker, Jay Huff, Quenton Jackson, Braden Smith and Kobe Brown—scored at least 12 points. Huff led the way with 22.

Ideally for Indiana, it won't be put in such a situation in the future. Next up is a road game against the Memphis Grizzlies on Wednesday.
