Knicks' Jalen Brunson Named Athlete of the Year by Philadelphia Sports Writers Association

New York Knicks guard Jalen Brunson was named the Philadelphia Sports Writers Association's Professional Athlete of the Year for 2026 on Friday.

Brunson, who is from New Brunswick, New Jersey, and attended college at Villanova University in Philadelphia, was named NBA Finals MVP last season after leading the Knicks to their first championship since 1973.

Ironically, the Philadelphia 76ers figure to be among the stiffest competition for Brunson and the Knicks this season after adding LeBron James and Jaylen Brown during the offseason.

Brunson will officially be honored by the PSWA on Jan. 11, 2027, at the 122nd annual PSWA Awards Banquet.
