Bob Myers Reveals Message to Jaylen Brown After 76ers-Celtics Trade, Emphasizes Leadership

Bob Myers, the President of HBSE Sports, revealed his message to Jaylen Brown after the Philadelphia 76ers added the five-time All-Star via trade from the Boston Celtics in July.

Myers made his remarks to former NBA superstars Vince Carter and Tracy McGrady on The Cousins podcast .

The Philadelphia 76ers have made the playoffs eight of the last nine years but haven't advanced past the Eastern Conference semifinals. Last year's team upset the Boston Celtics in the first round of the playoffs but lost to the eventual NBA champion New York Knicks in the second round.

Philadelphia went all-in this offseason, however, trading Paul George and four draft picks for Brown and later adding LeBron James via free agency. They join a formidable trio featuring 2022-23 NBA MVP Joel Embiid, All-NBA Third Team member Tyrese Maxey and unanimous All-Rookie First Team member VJ Edgecombe.

It's a formidable lineup for a 76ers team searching for its first Eastern Conference title since 2001 and its first NBA championship since 1983.

Philadelphia has certainly added championship experience and veteran leadership to the team. James is entering his 24th NBA season and has 10 NBA Finals appearances and four NBA championships. Brown has played 10 seasons, with a pair of NBA Finals trips, six Eastern Conference Finals appearances and one title. Kentavious Caldwell-Pope, a two-time NBA champion, is aboard as well and will be a key player off the bench.

It's clear from Myers' remarks that he valued Brown's past success and the leadership he can bring to the table. The same could go for James and KCP as well, as Philadelphia looks to finally take that next step.
