Jacob Misiorowski's start against the Tampa Bay Rays in Game 5 of the World Series ended a bit earlier than he would've liked.
The Milwaukee Brewers' ace pitched 5.2 scoreless innings before being forced to exit because of a calf cramp. Misiorowski took a few sips of a drink from the trainers before leaving the mound, but ultimately had to call it a day.
His calf cramp didn't seem to be bothering him as he celebrated the World Series victory.
The 24-year-old Misiorowski, playing in his second-ever postseason, had been fantastic before exiting. In his 5.2 innings, he gave up just two hits and a walk while striking out a pair, helping the Brewers take a 4-0 lead into the seventh inning.
It appears Misiorowski is dealing with a minor injury, but regardless, he'll have plenty of time to recover since Milwaukee closed things out and won the World Series.
Misiorowski also got the start in Game 1, and he went 5.0 innings, giving up four hits, a walk and a run while striking out five batters. The Brewers won the game 3-2.
Misiorowski, just two seasons into his MLB career, will presumably take home the NL Cy Young Award after a fantastic year on the mound. He made 30 regular-season starts, posting a 16-5 record while leading the majors in ERA (1.80), strikeouts (252) and WHIP (0.80).
His phenomenal second season got even better on Wednesday as the Brewers claimed their first World Series.
