World Series 2026: Jackson Chourio ties Babe Ruth for most hits in first 4 games of a Fall Classic
Chourio recorded his ninth and 10th hits of this series in Milwaukee's Game 4 loss.
With the Milwaukee Brewers holding a 3-2 lead in the top of the 12th inning of Game 4 of the World Series on Tuesday, Jackson Chourio came to the plate with a chance to put his name next to a legend's.
Chourio hit a two-out double off of Tampa Bay Rays reliever Ian Seymour. With that, he secured his 10th hit of the World Series, which tied Babe Ruth for the most by a player in the first four games of a Fall Classic.
Ruth's record had stood as his own since 1928. He secured his tally across a 4-0 New York Yankees sweep of the St. Louis Cardinals.
Chourio's hit continued a remarkable run for the 22-year-old slugger, who has been a threat in Milwaukee's lineup for the entirety of his three-season MLB career. He entered Game 4 slashing .286/.308/.429 this postseason with 2 home runs, 9 RBI and 3 stolen bases. He finished Tuesday's game 2-for-6 at the plate.
His 10th-inning hit was his 16th this postseason and his 31st through three postseasons. That moved him past Atlanta Braves Hall of Famer Andruw Jones for the most postseason hits by a player before turning 23. Chourio reached his tally in 21 fewer games than Jones.
Milwaukee took a 3-2 lead in the top of the 12th via a Cooper Pratt solo home run. But the Rays tied the game and loaded the bases with no outs in the bottom of the 12th.
Then Ben Williamson delivered a walk-off RBI single to secure a 4-3 Tampa Bay victory to fend off a sweep and cut Milwaukee's series lead to 3-1.
Game 5 is scheduled for 8 p.m. ET Wednesday in St. Petersburg.
