For the first time in franchise history, the Milwaukee Brewers are World Series champions.
The Brewers beat the Tampa Bay Rays 4-1 in Game 5 of the Fall Classic to claim their first title in 57 seasons as a club.
Cooper Pratt, who had a huge performance in the loss in Game 4, got things started for the Brewers, driving in Bryce Turan with a single in the top of the second.
Later on in the fifth inning, David Hamilton gave Milwaukee some insurance when he hit an RBI single to right field.
In the top of the sixth, William Contreras drove in the Brewers' third run with a double to left field, and Pratt added another with a sac fly.
Misiorowski was off to a fantastic start through 5.2 innings, giving up just two hits and no runs, but the Brewers' ace and presumed NL Cy Young Award winner had to come off the mound because of an apparent cramp.
After several shutdown innings from the Brewers, the Rays finally showed some life in the bottom of the ninth with one out when Liam Hicks doubled to right. Chandler Simpson then hit a two-out RBI double to drive in Hicks and make it a 4-1 game.
But Trevor Megill managed to quickly end the rally and get the final out of the season.
Brewers fans have been waiting more than five decades to call themselves World Series champions, and the wait is now over.
For the Rays, their first World Series victory will have to wait.
