Chicago police are investigating a mass shooting on the city’s South Side, with one person dead and at least nine others injured. According to Chicago police, officers were attempting to disperse a large crowd on the 5400 block of South Cottage Grove Avenue just after 11:30 p.m. when gunfire rang out. Police say at least 10 individuals were hit by gunfire in the shooting, which occurred in the city’s Washington Park neighborhood. One of the victims, a 35-year-old man, was shot multiple times, and was pronounced dead at the scene according to the Cook County Medical Examiner’s Office. Six victims who were shot were rushed to area hospitals and were listed in good condition, according to police. Police are working to obtain information on three other victims, including a 37-year-old woman, a 23-year-old woman and a 35-year-old man. All three were taken to area hospitals, but their conditions are unknown at this time. No Chicago police officers were hit by gunfire during the attack, according to authorities. No suspects are in custody, and Area One detectives are investigating.
