Man gets 15 years in jail for drug trafficking

Hazaribag: A special NDPS court in Chatra on Thursday sentenced an opium trafficker to 15 years of rigorous imprisonment and fined him Rs 1.5 lakh. The convict, Bheklal Saw was arrested with 374 grams of opium powder on April 4, 2022.Failure to pay the fine will result in an additional two-year jail term for Saw.Special public prosecutor Amit Kumar Srivastava said was arrested with the contraband during a vehicle checking near Harhad More under Rajpur police station limits. Charges against Saw were established through oral and documentary evidence and examination of key witnesses. “Efforts were underway to secure convictions in other pending narcotics cases as well,” he added.Stay updated with the latest Ranchi news.
