NEW DELHI: CJP founder Abhijeet Dipke was briefly detained by Mumbai Police after he was spotted carrying placards near Marine Drive ahead of the organisation’s October 2 march, news agency PTI reported. He was later released.Meanwhile, CJP spokesperson Ashutosh Ranka also clarified saying, "Dipke hasn’t been detained. He is busy roaming on the streets of Mumbai."Additionally, Dipke shared a photo of him from inside a car.CJP is set to launch a nationwide protest from October 2, demanding the resignation of Chief Election Commissioner Gyanesh Kumar. The agitation will begin at Mumbai’s Shivaji Park before spreading to other parts of the country, party chief spokesperson Saurav Das said.Dipke has also demanded that Kumar be booked for a criminal offence and called for greater transparency in the appointment of the CEC, including the involvement of civil society."Appointment of CEC should be transparent; there should be involvement of civil society," Dipke said in Mumbai.The party has accused the Election Commission of undermining voters’ rights and said the protest would continue until Kumar resigns. These are allegations made by the CJP."The protest will begin at Shivaji Park tomorrow, and from there, we will take this protest to the entire country.
