BJP worker seeks advocate general’s consent to initiate criminal action for contempt of court against CJP’s Saurav Das
BJP worker Vivekanand Gupta seeks advocate general’s consent to file criminal contempt case against CJP’s Saurav Das over judiciary-critical X post.
Mumbai: BJP party worker Vivekanand Gupta has filed an application with the advocate general seeking consent to initiate criminal action for contempt of court against Saurav Das of the Cockroach Janata Party.Referring to Das’ post on social media, Gupta said he has scandalised the judiciary by alleging that judges decide cases on “personal biases and myths” instead of the rules of law, and by calling the judiciary “a big black blot on our country.”On Nov 3, Das had posted: “Remember that we have judges who would much rather preach and judge based on personal biases and myths than strictly go by the rule of law and keep a check on arbitrary, excessive, colourable use of power by the state. It’s a big black blot on our country and those in contempt of Constitution will pay for it.”Gupta, in his application, stated that the post on X appears to have been published in connection with the Bombay High Court hearing related to Imran Khan versus State of Maharashtra where Khan had been issued a notice by the state to leave India for his part in the SIR agitation in Mumbai. The letter states Das posted when the matter regarding deportation/leave India notice was under hearing before Chief Justice. “By stating that judges preach on personal biases and myths, the respondent (Das) has attempted to prejudice public mind against the court hearing the said sensitive matter involving public order and sovereignty and thus committed interference with administration of justice,” states the application. You Can Also Check: Gold Rate in Mumbai | Silver Rate in Mumbai | Bank Holidays in Mumbai | Public Holidays in Mumbai | Mumbai AQI | Weather in Mumbai | Petrol Price in Mumbai | Diesel Price in Mumbai | CNG Price in Mumbai | LPG Price in MumbaiStay updated with the latest Mumbai news.
