Amritsar arms haul: 13 pistols, 3.2kg heroin recovered a day after AK-47, AK-56 seizure

AMRITSAR: A day after Amritsar Rural Police recovered an AK-47 and an AK-56 assault rifle along with 10.030 kg heroin, the Commissionerate Police Amritsar on Wednesday claimed another major breakthrough against illegal arms and drug trafficking, with the recovery of 13 pistols, 3.267 kg heroin and 22 live cartridges in three separate operations.While addressing media persons, Commissioner of Police Harmanbir Singh Gill said five accused had been arrested in the operations. The recoveries included eight PX-3 .30-bore pistols, three other .30-bore pistols, one Glock 9mm pistol and one 9mm pistol. Police also seized a BMW car allegedly used in criminal activities.Those arrested were identified as Krish Gold, Kunal Mehta alias Kannu, Robin, Jaskaran Singh alias Jass, all residents of Amritsar, and Jobanpreet Singh alias Joban, a resident of Tarn Taran.Gill said the operations were part of the Commissionerate Police's sustained campaign against drug trafficking, illegal arms smuggling and organised criminal networks.The recovery comes a day after Amritsar Rural Police claimed to have busted an arms and narcotics network with the arrest of three persons, including a woman, her husband and her brother.
