BENGALURU: The CID investigation into the alleged scam in the recruitment of veterinary officers has widened, with the probe team detaining another person in connection with the case.The detained person has been identified as Basavaraj Kannale, a national party functionary from Bidar district and a syndicate member of Tumakuru University. Kannale is involved in several businesses, including the travel sector, and owns buses and cabs.According to a senior officer, he was detained and taken into custody by the CID team in Delhi.Kannale was allegedly in constant contact with IAS officer Gyanendra Kumar Gangwar, who was arrested by the CID in connection with the recruitment irregularities.The investigating team suspects that Kannale may have played a role in the alleged irregularities and has detained him for questioning. He is being brought to Bengaluru. CID sleuths may produce him before a court on Monday and seek his police custody.The CID has intensified its probe and is examining the alleged links between the accused and others suspected to be involved in the recruitment scam.
