Delhi-NCR battered by heavy rain again, several areas waterlogged; IndiGo issues travel advisory

NEW DELHI: Heavy rain lashed several parts of Delhi-NCR on Saturday morning, leaving several areas waterlogged, with the IMD forecasting more showers ahead.The city is likely to receive more rain over the next two days.The city is likely to receive more rain over the next two days.The Met department has issued a yellow alert for light to moderate showers on Saturday, while light rain is predicted for Sunday. However, rain is unlikely from Monday to Thursday.According to IMD data, Safdarjung recorded 0.7 mm of rain between 11.30 pm on Friday and 5.30 am on Saturday. The weather station recorded another 1.3 mm of rain in the subsequent three hours till 8.30 am.Meanwhile, Palam recorded a minimum temperature of 22 degrees Celsius, 3.5 degrees lower than the previous day. Lodhi Road recorded a minimum of 24.7 degrees Celsius, while Ayanagar recorded a minimum of 24 degrees Celsius, a decrease of three degrees from the previous day.There was little rain recorded overnight at several weather stations across the national capital."Light to moderate rain, accompanied by thunderstorms, lightning and gusty winds of 30-40 kmph is likely across Delhi," said an IMD official.According to the forecast, the maximum temperature is likely to be around 30 degrees Celsius.The city's air quality index (AQI) remained in the satisfactory category on Saturday morning and was recorded at 59 at 9 am, compared with the 24-hour average AQI of 71 recorded at 4 pm on Friday, according to the Central Pollution Control Board (CPCB).As per CPCB standards, an AQI of 0-50 is considered 'good', 51-100 'satisfactory', 101-200 'moderate', 201-300 'poor', 301-400 'very poor', and 401-500 'severe'.Meanwhile, IndiGo Airlines on Saturday issued a travel advisory for passengers travelling through Delhi, warning of possible flight delays due to adverse weather conditions in the national capital.In a post on X, the airline said its teams were closely monitoring the situation and advised passengers to check their flight status on its website or app before leaving for the airport.“Bad weather is currently affecting #Delhi, leading to possible delays in flight operations. Our teams are closely monitoring the situation, if you're travelling today, we recommend checking your flight status on our website via or app before leaving for the airport,” said the advisory post.The airline also urged passengers to allow extra time for their journey to the airport as road conditions could be slower than usual.“Please also allow for additional travel time, as road conditions may be slower than usual. We appreciate your continued patience and understanding.
