DMK, AIADMK responsible for byelections in Tamil Nadu: Durai Vaiko

COIMBATORE: MDMK leader and Rajya Sabha member Durai Vaiko on Tuesday accused DMK and AIADMK of being responsible for the byelections in Tamil Nadu. He accused the leaders of the two parties of attempting to strike political deals.“Those who forced this bypolls are DMK and AIADMK. DMK leader M K Stalin and AIADMK leader Edappadi K Palaniswami were involved in horse-trading,” Durai told reporters at the Coimbatore airport. Durai was here en route to Dharapuram where a bypoll will be held on Oct 6. He said MDMK would work for the victory of TVK candidate P Sathyabama in the byelection.He accused DMK of using vulgar and double entendre remarks instead of ideological criticism. “Political parties can criticise each other on ideological grounds. That is part of a healthy and civilised political campaign. But using vulgar and double entendre remarks has become a practice for DMK. The principles of duty, dignity and discipline should guide political leaders. Unfortunately, a situation has emerged where even party leaders are speaking in this manner,” he said. MDMK is a former ally of DMK.He urged chief minister C Joseph Vijay to reconsider the proposal to establish a new secretariat at Pattinapakkam and announce another location.
