US president Donald Trump on early Tuesday thanked Elon Musk for pledging to donate SpaceX shares to millions of American children. Trump praised Musk’s proposed contribution, saying it aligned with the vision behind his administration’s TRUMP ACCOUNTS programme, which aims to encourage private-sector investment in children’s financial futures. Interestingly, Trump also shared the same message on X, a platform he rarely uses for announcements, as he posts almost exclusively on Truth Social."A BIG THANK YOU to our legendary friend, Elon Musk, for his incredible generosity in giving SpaceX Stock to millions of American children through TRUMP ACCOUNTS!" Trump wrote."This is exactly what was envisioned when we created TRUMP ACCOUNTS — Bringing together the GREAT PRIVATE SECTOR, Elon and so many more, to invest in our children, by far our greatest and most important asset, and give every American Child a piece of the American Dream. Thank you Elon!" he added.Musk announced his plan on Monday, saying he intended to give one SpaceX share to "every kid in America" next year. He made the pledge in response to an announcement by artificial intelligence company Anthropic that it would allocate 5% of its shares to a new public-benefit fund."I recommend giving the shares directly to the public," Musk wrote in response to Anthropic's announcement, adding that his proposed distribution would be "the first of many".With approximately 73 million Americans under the age of 18, the pledge could be worth around $10.66 billion, based on a SpaceX share price of $146.03 at Friday's close. The announcement comes as relations between Trump and Musk appear to be improving following their highly publicised fallout in 2025.The 2025 dispute had erupted after Musk criticised Trump's sweeping tax-and-spending legislation, calling it a "disgusting abomination".Trump responded by threatening to terminate government subsidies and contracts supporting Musk's businesses. Musk, in turn, backed calls for Trump's impeachment and alleged that the president's name appeared in files linked to convicted sex offender Jeffrey Epstein. However the relationship between the two have thawed since, Musk has joined Trump at several high profile meetings including when the POUTS hosted Xi Jinping in Washington. Musk was also present the top tech CEOs in US signed the White House Accord or an AI "constitution".Last week, Trump did take a swipe at Musk's intelligence during a campaign rally in Arizona, calling the billionaire an "80% super genius" and saying the remaining 20% has "a little problem".“Elon’s 80 percent super genius, and 20 percent he has a little problem, " I always tell him. He’s a great guy, though,” he said. You use AI every day. Now get your AI Quotient. Take the AIQ test.
