Affair, pistol, 2 bullets: How woman and her lover plotted husband’s murder in Noida

GHAZIABAD: A two-year affair, a plan allegedly hatched a week in advance and a country-made pistol were at the centre of a murder in Khoda Colony, where a 30-year-old woman and her lover allegedly conspired to kill her husband so they could marry each other.Police said the accused, Pappu alias Ganga Bhagat, allegedly shot Anshul twice while he was alone at home on Saturday, then fled.Nisha and Pappu, 35, were arrested on Sunday following a tip-off, ACP (Indirapuram) Suryabali Maurya said. Police recovered an illegal .315-bore country-made pistol allegedly used in the crime at Pappu’s instance.The two have been booked for murder under Section 103 of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita (BNS) and under relevant provisions of the Arms Act.A relationship that turned into a murder plotThe case came to light after Anshul’s sister approached police in the early hours of Sunday. In her complaint, she alleged that Nisha and Pappu had been in a relationship and wanted to eliminate Anshul so they could marry.Anshul and Nisha had married in 2015 and had two children. They lived in a rented room in Vandana Vihar, Khoda, and both worked at a stitching company in Noida.Pappu, who is the husband of their maternal cousin, had also been living with them, police said.According to Anshul’s sister, he had repeatedly complained about Nisha’s relationship with Pappu. The family had tried to resolve the matter internally, allegedly because of social stigma, but the relationship continued. Pistol procured from village, hidden in roomDuring questioning, Pappu allegedly told police that he and Nisha had planned the murder around a week before the shooting. He allegedly procured a country-made pistol and cartridges from his village, and the two hid them in the room, the ACP said.Pappu also told police that his first wife had died and his second wife lived in their village.How the shooting allegedly unfoldedAnshul had taken two days off from work, while Nisha continued going to work, police said. On Saturday, when Anshul was alone at home, Pappu allegedly arrived around 1pm, saying he had come to eat.After the meal, he allegedly took out the pistol and fired two rounds at Anshul before fleeing. Anshul died on the spot, according to police.Pappu later allegedly called Nisha and told her about the killing.
