Accused flees from court premises, caught
Accused Bala Murukan fled police custody at Nedumkandam magistrate court in Idukki after handcuffs were removed, but was caught within 15 minutes.
Idukki: A man who is accused of attempting to kill his mother escaped from police custody while being produced before the first class magistrate court at Nedumkandam on Saturday morning. He was, however, caught within 15 minutes following a swift search by the police.The accused, Bala Murukan of Kinnamthotti in Udumbanchola, had been brought to the court by Udumbanchola police to be produced before the magistrate. He was reportedly handcuffed when he was brought to the court premises.Police said the accused asked the officers to remove the handcuffs as he wanted to drink water. When the police removed the handcuffs, he suddenly broke through the security cordon and fled the court premises. The police immediately launched a search in and around the court premises.He was traced and taken into custody within 15 minutes.
