Chhattisgarh: Class 9 girl abducted, drugged and gang-raped in Mungeli; 2 arrested

Raipur: A 14-year-old Class 9 student was targeted twice in two days by two youths in Mungeli district — first beaten with a belt and threatened, and the next day forcibly taken to a house where she says she was injected with an unknown substance before losing consciousness and being sexually assaulted.Police have arrested both accused and sent them to judicial custody on Saturday. A case has been registered under BNS and POCSO Act. The identities of the accused are being withheld to protect the minor’s identity and prevent indirect identification.According to the complaint, the girl was returning from a friend’s house on the evening of Sept 29 when the accused intercepted her. She told police that they abused her, threatened to kill her and beat her with a belt. They offered her Rs 500 and warned her against telling anyone about the incident.Terrified, the girl did not go home and instead boarded a bus to Ratanpur, where an unidentified woman helped her.She began her journey home the next day. After changing buses at Sakri, she reached Barela, where she allegedly encountered the same two men in the evening.This time, according to her statement, they forcibly took her to a house. One held her while the other administered an injection into her arm. She lost consciousness soon afterwards.When the girl regained consciousness, she found her clothes disturbed and experienced pain in her lower body and waist.
