Hollywood star Nicolas Cage’s $10.5 million Malibu mansion has been hit by a dramatic sinkhole after part of the property’s driveway collapsed, with the damage coming amid heavy rain, high surf and suspected coastal erosion along Southern California’s coastline.Photos from the scene show a huge crater where the driveway of the 4,000-square-foot beachfront property once stood. Sections of asphalt and concrete appear to have cracked and fallen into the hole, while debris, parts of a privacy fence and a portable toilet were also swallowed by the collapse. Large chunks of concrete could be seen inside the crater.Sinkhole is around 30 feet by 30 feetAccording to KTLA, firefighters came upon the chaotic scene early Tuesday while responding to a report of a suspected gas main break. A public information officer told the outlet that the massive hole, believed to have been caused by coastal erosion, measures around 30 feet by 30 feet.Gas company workers were also at the property working to restore the damaged gas main.Despite the scale of the collapse, the outlet reported that no evacuations had been ordered and no injuries were reported. The local outlet also noted that no one appeared to be home when the driveway gave way.KTLA reporter Rich Prickett said while reporting from the scene that the house appeared to be undergoing some sort of renovation.Workers wearing orange safety vests could be seen assessing the damage, while a firetruck was photographed near the residence with a yellow hose extended from the vehicle.Nicolas Cage bought the Malibu mansion for $10.5 million in 2024Cage purchased the beachfront property in 2024 for $10.5 million.
