Syria still committed to diplomatic option with Israel, FM Shaibani says at Arab League meeting

Syrian Foreign Minister Asaad al-Shaibani reaffirmed Syria's commitment to a diplomatic solution with Israel during a meeting of Arab foreign ministers at the Arab League in Cairo.

Shaibani called for exclusive control of arms by the government in order to enhance the country's security, emphasizing it as a sovereign right of the state.

During the meeting, Shaibani condemned Iran's attacks on Gulf Arab states and Jordan, expressing solidarity with the countries that have been targeted.

Shaibani made his comments during a meeting of Arab foreign ministers at the 166th ministerial session of the Arab League in Cairo, SANA reported.

Syria remains committed to a diplomatic solution with Israel, Syrian Foreign Minister Asaad al-Shaibani said on Monday, according to the Syrian Arab News Agency (SANA).

"We remain committed to the option of a diplomatic solution and are working hard to achieve it, while working to end Israeli attacks, arrests, and incursions," Shaibani said.

Syrian FM calls for exclusive control of arms

During the meeting, SANA also reported that Shaibani called for the government to have exclusive control of weaponry in order to aid in the country's security.

"Exclusive control of arms is a deterrent decision and an absolute sovereign right of the state, so that we can protect all Syrians and build together," he said.

He also reaffirmed Syria's solidarity with Gulf Arab states and Jordan since the start of the ongoing war against Iran, several of which have come under fire in Iranian attacks . Shaibani condemned Iran's attacks on the Gulf countries during the meeting.
