Wave of glowing orbs set to light up Weymouth bridge

Glowing orbs shaped into a breaking ocean wave over a bridge will form part of a town's interactive sound and light art experience.

Dusk Till Dark features laser light shows on The Esplanade in Weymouth, Dorset, sound baths on the seaside resort's beach and glowing dancing figures on rooftops.

Its centrepiece, Wave, is a light and sound display made up of 500 glowing orbs hanging above the town's Westham Bridge creating a walk-through experience.

The wave, staged by the charity Activate Performing Arts, will be lit up for three nights from Thursday to Saturday between 18:00 and 22:00 and other sound and light experiences will run across Friday and Saturday evenings.

This year, instead of one main show, the event forms a trail of static sound and light installations for people to wander between at their own pace.

All Dusk Til Dark events are free and family-friendly. Friday's drawing workshop and Saturday's yoga session require tickets, as spaces are limited.

Visitors are advised to check the schedule and timings before setting off.

Now in its sixth year, Dusk Til Dark is organised by We Are Weymouth in partnership with Activate Performing Arts.
