Nvidia CEO Jensen Huang pushed back against warnings from some of the biggest names in the AI world that AI could eventually become uncontrollable and threaten humanity. In an interview on The Ezra Klein Show recently, Jensen Huang was asked about concerns raised by AI pioneers including Anthropic CEO Dario Amodei, OpenAI CEO Sam Altman, Geoffrey Hinton as well as Ilya Sutskever. Huang said such warnings should be based on evidence and science, arguing that alarming people about AI does not automatically serve a “social good”.“Don’t think for a second just because you’re an alarmist that you’re doing a social good. It is not true,” Huang said adding “I think that we ought to just all be wiser, more mature, be evidence based, be scientific”.“If you want to be scientific, be scientific. Do the science. But alarming people, making claims that don’t — their track record is horrible. The Nvidia chief responded saying:“I would tell Geoff that it’s irresponsible to say all that. All of his predictions have been wrong. Enough predictions. That 10 percent chance is not grounded on science. It’s not grounded on research. Just because it comes from a scientist doesn’t make it scientific.
