Read: US strikes security deal with Greenland, Denmark

President Trump on Tuesday signed a trilateral security agreement with Greenland and Denmark on the sidelines of the U.N. General Assembly in New York City.

“We’re going to have a tremendous relationship, a secure relationship, and we look forward to it,” Trump said during the signing ceremony. “We’ll be working very hard and very much in conjunction with each other.”

The deal, which the president first announced earlier this month , includes establishing two new U.S. military bases on the arctic island. The move comes after months of scrutiny over the Trump administration’s threat to take over Greenland.
