Berkshire's Roseanna Brown on her 'amazing' experience on Pressure film set

"I was in a room full of these amazing actors - it was the most amazing, amazing experience," says Roseanna Brown about her starring role in the latest Hollywood drama, Pressure.

The British-Irish actress and singer, who grew up in Windsor, Berkshire, plays the lead operator in US president Dwight Eisenhower's team in the film - a World War Two drama about the tough choices made in the 72 hours before D-Day.

Cast alongside stars including Brendan Fraser, Andrew Scott and Damien Lewis, it is her biggest role to date, having previously portrayed a Slytherin student in the Harry Potter series and Fandral's Wench in Thor: The Dark World.

Ahead of the film's release in UK cinemas on 9 September, Brown shares how much she learned from the filming and her dreams about future roles.

Brown says she auditioned for the film in 2024 but did not find out what role she had been chosen for until she arrived on set.

"I headed up the entire scene, nobody else spoke," she says.

"I am the first person to receive the information if D-Day was a success or not.

"Surprisingly, even though we know what happened, it was still really stressful to have that situation - even watching it in the cinema, it was still very edge of your seat."

Scott, who is best known for his roles in the hit BBC series Sherlock and the James Bond film Spectre, plays British meteorologist James Stagg , while Academy Award winning actor Fraser portrays Eisenhower.

Brown says she has taken away lessons such as the value in taking chances.

She recalls watching Fraser do the same take where he "responded differently every time", alternating between "an overwhelming amount of emotion" and other times where he "kept his composure".

"I was like, 'oh my gosh, we are all make-believing together while also knowing what the story is and how our characters should be'."

Brown also remembers Lewis, who is known for his roles in Homeland and Band of Brothers, was "really lovely" to her and said hello every morning.

She also says it was "very nice to see the Andrew Scott who wasn't playing James Stagg".

She talks of acting a phone call scene with him and thinking after each cut, "I'm really doing this with Andrew Scott".

Brown says later he praised her for "an absolutely fantastic job" and provided her with specific feedback.

"It's nice to just give space to those people who have quite complex characters to play," she says.

"Damien, for example, very different on set, he'd go into character and out of character, whereas other people very much would stay in."

She says having watched the cast "bounce off each other" had been "amazing to be a part of and learn from".

Pressure was released in the US on 29 May and Brown, who lives mostly in Los Angeles, says she thinks it would have "a different type of appeal" in the UK.

Brown says she now looks forward to landing her dream role and would "love" to star in a Game of Thrones prequel or in the Fourth Wing TV adaptation .

She says she loves historical dramas and fantasy, with her first feature film appearance having been in the Harry Potter series.

But she would also "adore to be the voice of a Disney princess or a Disney character".

As the former front-woman of sibling band The Rua, she has achieved chart success in the UK and the United States, and says she would like to simultaneously develop her acting alongside her music career.

"It's a very different creative feeling where I'm not myself and that is just so freeing," she adds.
