Auto driver held for abusing, assaulting women in Bengaluru

Bengaluru: A day after the video of a fight between an autorickshaw driver and two women in HSR Layout went viral, police arrested 30-year-old driver Chetan.One of the women, in her 20s, went to the police station Tuesday and filed a complaint after cops got in touch with her. The woman told police she had booked the auto through an aggregator app and subsequently cancelled it. The driver, who reached the location, abused her and when she retorted, he assaulted her and her friend, a senior police officer said.A case has been registered under Section 74 (assault or use of criminal force to a woman with intent to outrage her modesty).The video of them fighting and exchanging blows went viral on social media Monday. HSR Layout police said they contacted the women after seeing the video and asked them to file a complaint.Chetan told police the women fought over payment.
