LUCKNOW: The district administration has intensified flood relief operations in low-lying areas as rising Gomti River levels continue to inundate several localities, prompting deployment of additional boats, distribution of relief kits and tighter security in affected neighbourhoods.District magistrate Vishakh G said nine gram panchayats in Bakshi Ka Talab tehsil remain waterlogged. Within the Lucknow Municipal Corporation limits, Faizullaganj and nearby settlements such as Mama Colony, Lauramau and Daud Nagar are among the worst hit, with water entering residential lanes and disrupting movement.Relief kits supplied by the Uttar Pradesh relief commissioner’s office are being distributed to affected families. Officials said each kit contains 10 kg wheat flour, 10 kg rice, 10 kg potatoes, along with chana, pulses, bottled drinking water and other essential items. To maintain connectivity and speed up relief delivery, the administration has deployed 60 boats in Faizullaganj. Vishakh G said more than 20 motorised boats from Ayodhya and other districts are expected to arrive by Tuesday, which is likely to expand evacuation capability and allow residents to commute for basic needs.Security has been stepped up in submerged localities, with SDRF boats assisting local police in patrolling flooded stretches and monitoring locked homes. The district magistrate said one person was recently arrested for allegedly attempting to steal from abandoned houses in an inundated area.Calling the situation challenging, Vishakh G appealed for public cooperation and urged residents to follow official advisories.Meanwhile, executive engineer Mukesh Kumar Vaish of the irrigation department’s Gomti river division reported that the water level at Gau Ghat was 108.45 metres on Monday evening, while the Central Water Commission’s Hanuman Setu gauge recorded 107 metres and the Gomti Barrage level was about 106.75 metres.Vaish said differences in readings occur due to the river’s natural gradient, with slopes of around 10–15 cm per km leading to variations between gauge points. At Hanuman Setu, the danger mark is 109.5 metres and the highest flood level is 110.85 metres, according to the CWC.You Can Also Check: Gold Rate in Lucknow | Silver Rate in Lucknow | Bank Holidays in Lucknow | Public Holidays in Lucknow | Lucknow AQI | Weather in Lucknow | Petrol Price in Lucknow | Diesel Price in Lucknow | CNG Price in Lucknow | LPG Price in LucknowStay updated with the latest Lucknow news.
