Montreal's La Ronde amusement park is temporarily shutting down one of its popular rides after the death of one person and the injury of others on a roller-coaster at a Six Flags park in Georgia, U.S.
Several media outlets have identified the ride the fatal accident occurred on as the Goliath, including local TV stations, which showed video of passengers being evacuated from the roller-coaster, according to the Associated Press.
Montreal's own Goliath rollercoaster was shut down as a precautionary measure Tuesday, according to a spokesperson for La Ronde. The park says that the roller coaster will remain closed until an update is received from the manufacturer.
While Six Flags no longer owns La Ronde, it was responsible for the park's attractions, including the Goliath, before the purchase of the park by EPR Properties this spring.
In total, Six Flags temporarily closed nine roller-coasters across six amusement parks on Monday.
"We are deeply saddened by the tragic incident at Six Flags Over Georgia and would like to express our deepest condolences to everyone affected," said Carole Bricault, director of communications at La Ronde.
According to the Associated Press, officials have not yet confirmed how the person died, nor how the others were injured or their conditions after the incident at the park.
Cobb County Police Department major crimes unit detectives are investigating.
