HYDERABAD: Former Telangana minister Konda Surekha on Thursday questioned the decision to remove her from chief minister A Revanth Reddy’s cabinet, saying she had neither committed any corruption nor been given an opportunity to explain herself before the action was taken.Surekha said she had replied to the show-cause notices issued to her and questioned why she was not consulted before the decision to recommend her removal. She also questioned the authenticity of an unsigned communication announcing the action and said the move appeared to be an act of vendetta.Defending her daughter Konda Sushmitha Patel, whose remarks against Revanth Reddy and his family triggered the disciplinary row, Surekha said her daughter was an adult and her personal views could not be attributed to her.She questioned why she should be held responsible for comments made by her daughter and also asked what action had been taken against Congress leaders Komatireddy Raj Gopal Reddy and T Jagga Reddy when they had made controversial remarks.Surekha also questioned the decision to remove veteran Congress leader G Chinna Reddy as vice-chairman of the Telangana Planning Board, saying it was unfair to take action against him merely because disciplinary proceedings had been initiated against her.At the same time, Surekha welcomed the appointment of three BC women to key positions in the state, saying she was happy to see them being given important responsibilities.Asked about her political future, Surekha said she had not yet taken a decision and would decide on her next course of action.Surekha’s remarks came hours after Revanth Reddy recommended her removal from the Council of Ministers and decided to rescind Chinna Reddy’s appointment as vice-chairman of the Telangana Planning Board. The recommendation on Surekha’s removal was sent to governor Jishnu Dev Varma for approval, while Chinna Reddy’s removal was made effective immediately. The action followed recommendations by the Telangana Pradesh Congress Committee's (TPCC) disciplinary committee against both leaders over their recent remarks. The controversy involving Surekha intensified after her daughter made remarks against Revanth and his family at a public event last month. Surekha had maintained that her daughter’s comments were personal and that she should not be held responsible for them. The issue subsequently escalated within the Congress, with several leaders demanding action against Surekha. Revanth had also raised the matter with AICC general secretary KC Venugopal during his visit to Delhi and sought stringent action against her.Surekha had refused to resign despite mounting pressure and challenged the party leadership to take action against her. She also met Congress president Mallikarjun Kharge in Delhi on Wednesday as the high command considered disciplinary action.Chinna Reddy’s removal followed the disciplinary committee’s recommendation over his remarks against Wanaparthy MLA T Megha Reddy.Meanwhile, Revanth announced three appointments: Gadwal Vijayalakshmi as vice-chairperson of the Telangana Planning Board, Nerella Sharada as chairperson of the Telangana State Commission for Women and former Rajya Sabha MP G Sudha Rani as chairperson of the Kakatiya Urban Development Authority. You Can Also Check: Gold Rate in Hyderabad | Silver Rate in Hyderabad | Bank Holidays in Hyderabad | Public Holidays in Hyderabad | Hyderabad AQI | Weather in Hyderabad | Petrol Price in Hyderabad | Diesel Price in Hyderabad | CNG Price in Hyderabad | LPG Price in HyderabadStay updated with the latest Hyderabad news.
