Lindsay Clancy case ‘needs to be done’: Kevin Reddington

( NewsNation ) — Lindsay Clancy’s attorney, Kevin Reddington , said he will be filing a motion to have the case dismissed based on double jeopardy.

Reddington will file the motion, along with others, ahead of a Sept. 29 hearing meant to determine the next steps after an initial trial ended in a mistrial .

“I’m hoping that Judge Sullivan allows the termination of the case. This case is just a case that needs to be done,” the attorney said.

Clancy was charged with murder in the deaths of her three young children. Prosecutors argued that it was a premeditated crime, while Reddington said Clancy was suffering from postpartum psychosis and not criminally responsible for her actions.

The jury of nine women and three men was unable to reach a unanimous agreement, with 11 of the jurors leaning toward finding Clancy not guilty by reason of insanity, with one holdout juror saying he believed she should be found guilty.

The district attorney has not yet announced whether his office intends to retry the case, and Reddington said he hopes there’s a chance to discuss a deal.

“I would hope that he’d like to talk,” Clancy’s attorney said.

The case captured national attention and drew divisive opinions . Conspiracy theories about the case have circulated online, including those involving Lindsay Clancy’s husband, Patrick Clancy .

When asked about his recent “60 Minutes” interview , Reddington said he heard nothing new and that the decision to appear on the show was between Clancy and his attorneys.
