Death of Presley Gerber, Cindy Crawford’s son, investigated as suspected overdose, reports say

( NewsNation ) — Presley Gerber ’s death is being investigated as a “suspected overdose,” according to news reports citing police.

Gerber, the 27-year-old son of supermodel Cindy Crawford, died Sunday at a rehabilitation facility.

An examination Monday determined more testing would be needed before a cause of death can be announced, according to the Los Angeles County Medical Examiner’s Office.

Crawford and Rande Gerber’s son was open about his addiction and mental health struggles before his death.

Sources told TMZ that his family was told that he died from a suspected overdose and that he was living with other people at the rehab site.

An autopsy has not yet been completed, and the exact cause and manner of death remain unknown, the Los Angeles County Medical Examiner’s Office confirmed.

Gerber, who was a model like his mother, spoke publicly about addiction and mental health.

He was arrested for DUI in 2018 and was given three years’ probation.

In December 2025, Gerber explained that the solutions for his mental health struggles were focused on medicine rather than alternative guidance from his doctors.

“Every psych i atrist I’ve had, and I’ve had 15, are just like, ‘Well, here’s 20 medications and take this if you feel like this,’” he said on Instagram at the time, according to People magazine . “And I’m like, ‘No, don’t give me that much leeway.’ I need some direction.”

Gerber’s death follows that of actress Hayden Panettiere , whose cause and manner of death have yet to be determined, despite reports suggesting otherwise.
