Trump promises midterm victory, slams Democrats in Labor Day message

President Trump on Monday promised victory in the upcoming midterm elections for the GOP and went after Democrats in a Labor Day message posted to social media.

“Happy Labor Day to all, including the Radical Left Lunatics, Communists, and Dumocrats who will do anything possible to destroy our Country. These Deranged People, after fighting for 10 years, should finally acknowledge that your Favorite President (ME!), knows how to WIN!” Trump said in a Monday morning post to Truth Social .

“They should be exhausted by now but, sadly, they’re not. They’re going to give it one last shot at ruining America, but we’re not going to let that happen. We’re going to win the Midterms, BIG, and SAVE AMERICA!” he added.

Trump’s post comes amid a challenging time as summer draws to a close. The president’s approval rating is slumping , Democrats have led Republicans in recent polling on the race for Congress, the unpopular war with Iran just passed the six-month mark , and Americans have consistently expressed concerns about the economy .

According to a polling average from Decision Desk HQ , Trump’s approval rating was sitting at 39.4 percent as of Monday afternoon, while his disapproval rating was at 57.1 percent.

Last week, Trump urged Republicans in competitive midterm races to run on his record and vowed to campaign alongside them.

The president told GOP lawmakers at a White House dinner that they had successful stories to share with voters in the remaining months of the election season. By telling those stories, the president said they will “win, and you’re going to win big.”

“I’m going to go to every one of those 35 places, and we’re going to see if we can get everyone elected,” the president added, referencing 35 races that will determine the GOP’s hold on the House and the Senate.

Trump is gearing up to speak on both nights of the Republican National Committee’s rare midterm convention slated for later this week.
