House Minority Leader Hakeem Jeffries (D-N.Y.) said Sunday that Democrats are on the path to reclaiming the majority in the lower chamber of Congress.

Jeffries, during a conference call, told reporters the upcoming midterms are similar to those in 2018, when Democrats took back the House during President Trump’s first term, The Associated Press reported.

“House Democrats are poised to take back the majority,” the New York Democrat continued, according to the AP.

Democrats have a pretty rosy electoral outlook for November, with Decision Desk HQ (DDHQ) forecasting that they’ll hit 234 seats in the lower chamber after the upcoming midterms and retake the House. Republicans, on the other hand, are dealing with issues like President Trump’s sagging approval rating , the unpopular war in Iran and affordability concerns with Election Day just a month away.

According to DDHQ’s polling average, Trump’s approval rating sits at 38.6 percent, as of Monday morning, with his disapproval rating at 59.3 percent.

A recent Quinnipiac University survey also found that 51 percent of registered voters say if the midterms were held now, they would want Democrats to lock down the House majority, while 39 percent said the same about Republicans.

Trump on Saturday pressed his supporters to go to the polls for the midterms, vowing a “big” GOP victory if they did so.

“You got to get out and vote. You got to get out. You got to vote for these guys,” Trump told a crowd of supporters at a rally in Ohio.

“Just get out and vote. If you do that, we’re gonna win and we’re gonna win big and we’re gonna shove it up their a‑‑,” the president added.

The remarks came as part of his red state campaign blitz . Trump and Vice President Vance have been active in the field stumping for vulnerable GOP candidates and incumbents in recent weeks.
