President Trump said Wednesday he is concerned about the Senate race in Alaska, where two candidates with similar names are facing each other, calling it “totally confusing.”

“It’s ridiculous that the Court didn’t stop this SCAM,” the president said in a Truth Social post Wednesday night, referring to the two candidates with close-to-identical names facing each other in the upcoming race for the U.S. Senate.

Sen. Dan S. Sullivan (R-Alaska) is facing a challenge from Dan J. Sullivan and former Rep. Mary Peltola (D-Alaska), with Election Day less than two weeks away.

“We are looking at powerful legal options to remove the fraudulent Daniel J. Sullivan Jr. from the Ballot, and holding the Democrats accountable for their Election Interference, in the pursuit of Justice and Fairness,” Trump said in his post.

Earlier this year, Dan J. Sullivan’s campaign faced legal challenges after being accused of launching a Senate bid to create confusion among voters seeking to elect the incumbent senator who shares his name. The director of the Alaska Division of Elections, Carol Beecher, tried to remove Dan J. Sullivan from the primary ballot and disqualify his campaign, citing his logo’s similarities to Sen. Sullivan’s.

Dan J. Sullivan, a Petersburg resident with no party affiliation , challenged the measure in court, leading to a Superior Court judge’s ruling in June that allowed him to stay on the ballot for the state’s primary in August.

“Dan S. Sullivan is leading by a lot, but this is CHEATING in an Election, and the Judge that allowed this to happen should be ashamed of himself,” the president said in his Wednesday post.
